The 10 Best Donuts in SLC

What’s better than donuts? Nothing. Nothing is better than donuts.

With National Donut Day upon us, we set out to find the best donut along Utah’s Wasatch Front.

We scored each shop by: presentation, taste/flavor, uniqueness, and freshness. At each shop we asked to try their best selling donut. It was fun to see what was popular. And let me just say, there are some excellent donuts here in Utah! By far it seems maple and glazed are overall favorites in Utah.

Allow me to introduce you to the best donuts along the Wasatch Front:

  1. My Sugar’s Donuts

     Located: 2126 S 3200 W

     West Valley City, UT  84119

This is a small, friendly donut shop. We tried their maple donut, which is hard to go wrong with. We all agreed it was a good, but average donut.

  1. Lehi Bakery

   Located: 172 W Main St

   Lehi, UT  84043

We tried their square maple and glazed donuts. The maple donut comes with a more cake-like type of frosting. More light and fluffy than your typical donut frosting.

  1. Dunford Donuts

   Located: 8556 S 2940 W

   West Jordan, UT 84088

If you’re from Utah, you’re familiar with Dunford Donuts! While we imagine their chocolate donut is their most popular, we decided to try their maple donut so we could easily compare to the other shops.

  1. Lee’s Bakery (Marketplace)

   Located: 725 N Redwood Rd

                  North Salt Lake, UT 84054

Lee’s Marketplace has a bakery that may surprise you. Coming in at #7 we all agreed their maple bars were right on par with some of the other shops we visited. They even have large donuts for the days one just isn’t enough. Pro tip: Lee’s has maple bar Monday’s for $.50!

  1. Jack’s Donuts

   Located: 5398 West Daybreak Parkway

                  South Jordan, UT 84095

At Jack’s, we tried their popular tiger tail. A mix between chocolate glazed and regular glazed. It was a fun pairing and we liked that the flavors twisted together.

  1. Banbury Cross

   Located: 705 700 E

                  Salt Lake City, UT 84102

Banbury Cross has some excellent donuts and they are right in the heart of Salt Lake City. We tried their cinnamon donuts. And while we all loved them, we agreed they would be even better with a bit of frosting.

  1. Donuts and Deli

   Located: 2699 State St

                  South Salt Lake, UT 84115

We sampled their glazed donuts and they were divine! This small shop has many delicious donuts to choose from and they come in the cutest boxes!

And the top three donut shops around Salt Lake, drum roll please……

  1. Darla’s Donuts

   Located: 2278 Redwood Rd

                  Salt Lake City, UT 84119

This little donut shop made us feel right at home. We tried the root beer float donut and I can still taste their delicious cream. They have a variety of fun and unique flavors. I’m excited to go back to sample more!

  1. Beyond Glaze

   Located: 177 W 12300 S

                   Draper, UT 84020

I’ll be honest. We walked up to this shop and I said, “oh these won’t be good, the building looks too flashy”. I. WAS. WRONG. These guys know how to do donuts. We went with a bigger group and were able to sample several donuts. We officially scored on their maple bacon, but also tried a blueberry cobbler, strawberry lemon, and breakfast donut. Everything was perfection!

And our number 1 donut shop (as well as SLC’s Best of State in 2019)

    1. Donut Boy

 Located: 2194 W 3500 S

                West Valley City, UT 84119

Donut Boy boasts no number one donut, they have a variety of flavors, all that sell well. We chose the strawberry cheesecake and were not disappointed. The taste was spot on and we all agreed we would have to go back to try some of their other flavors.
