We are so excited to have Emily from Emi & T Boutique as our guest blogger! Emily started her business as a sophomore in high school as a way to earn some extra money. Her business has led her to pursuing a degree in digital marketing. We love that she has found her passion at a young age and the hard work she’s put into having it be successful! We hope you find her story as inspiring as we do!

When I was a sophomore (April 2016), I started my own online jewelry boutique, Emi & T Boutique. At that time, I had no time for a job because of school and homework, so I decided to open my own business. Little did I know, creating and operating a business takes a lot of time, and it probably would have been easier to just get a job.

One of my of my favorite things about owning a business is that I have the opportunity to collaborate and network with other businesses, influencers, and bloggers. I love getting to know others on social media and being able to help other small businesses or bloggers out.
Many people are surprised that I am so young and own a business. I remember one time I somehow convinced a pretty popular Instagram Influencer to collaborate with me. She actually ended up coming to my house to pick out a few products and was shocked when she found out that I was only 16. It was kinda funny! A lot of people also wonder how I came up with the idea to create an online boutique. To be honest, none of this even crossed my mind. My dad was the one who came up with the idea to start the business. He is a high school marketing and business teacher and thought it would be a good idea for me to start my own business. So, after a little persuasion, I decided to sell jewelry because that is what I was and am still am interested in. Selling jewelry is a hard market because jewelry boutiques are so common, but it is a lot of fun!

Throughout the process of operating Emi & T Boutique, I have found that I have a passion for marketing. In fact, I am going to be starting college this Fall, and I am going to be majoring in digital marketing. I would have never found out that I love business and marketing as much as I do if I wouldn’t have started this business. I have also started a blog, myeverydaywonders.com<http://myeverydaywonders.com>, which has also stemmed from my love for social media and marketing.

Writing about starting a business and finding my passion may sound easy, but believe me, it is not. Photographing items, purchasing items, posting on social media consistently, creating websites and keeping track of finances can be a lot of work and is not always fun. Sometimes I wish that I could just not have to worry about a business, but there are so many reasons why I love it! I love being able to see others enjoy my products. I love learning more about photography. I love getting to know influencers and networking with other bloggers and business owners. I love owning a business!
