Out of all the places that I have lived, Utah is definitely my favorite! The Salt Lake Valley has so much to do and explore! So with that being said I am going to give you my top 10ish favorite places and foods in the Salt Lake Valley. (#9 is my favorite!)
1. Temple Square
Lisa, Beth, and I were all married at the Salt Lake Temple. There is so much history on the grounds and in the area! During the Spring and Summer they have beautiful flowers that are meticulously kept up. During Christmas time they have AMAZING lights to go and see. I’ve literally gone every year! They usually start putting up the lights in August! On Thursday nights you can also go listen to The Mormon Tabernacle Choir practice! And of course there is the HUGE General Conference held the first weekends of April and October.
50 N West Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84150
2. Ensign Peak
This is a very short easy hike that will give you a great view of Salt Lake. It is said that when Brigham Young got into the Salt Lake Valley that it was there he plotted out the city and there he visioned before coming to Utah.
3. The Utah State Capitol
The capitol is really pretty, especially during spring with the blossoms everywhere! It was modeled after the US capitol building and part of Legally Blonde was filmed there (haha). The inside is painted with bit of Utah’s history. It is a quick visit but definitely a must see.
350 State St, Salt Lake City, UT 84111
4. This is the Place Heritage Park
This is actually where Andrei and I had our reception(!!!!) It is full of Utah history and you can do lots of hands on old fashioned games, blanket making, butter making, and they have really yummy treats! It is like stepping back in time to when Utah was founded.
2601 E Sunnyside Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84108
5. The Hogle Zoo
I love the zoo! There are so many different animals and exhibits to explore! It is right across the street from This is the place Heritage Park!
2600 Sunnyside Ave S, Salt Lake City, UT 84108
6. City Creek
City Creek is one of our newer malls in Salt Lake. The person who designed the water show at the Bellagio also designed the water features here. There is a huge glass roof that opens up during days with better weather, or it can be covered for the winter and rainy days. Parking is free for the first 2 hours but then is pretty cheap afterwards. It is closed on Sundays.
50 Main St, Salt Lake City, UT 84101
7. Antelope Island
This is a bit further out from the city, but it is fun to see all the bison and explore around the Great Salt Lake
4528 W 1700 S, Syracuse, UT 84075
8. Canyon Drives
I love driving through the canyons during the Summer and Fall! Everything is sooo beautiful. I love the changing leaves and the crisp fresh air. There are loads of hikes to do (stay tuned for a blog post just about that) or even just driving through!
